Standard of Excellence
My success is measured by the success of hundreds of clients who have relied on my help. My goal is to provide each client with a properly edited document, along with the reassurance that I understand the dissertation writing process. I apply all elements of editing to every document I receive. Many clients are good writers, but academic writing calls for unique constructions, terminology, and skills that other types of writing might not require. Most clients want their dissertations to be the best documents they can possibly be, which means I want to do my very best work for each client.

Grammar and Proofreading
I will proofread and check the grammar and mechanics in your document. This process includes spelling, punctuation, sentence structure, verb tense, word choice, pronoun referents, passive voice, clarity, and parallel construction. I substitute more robust words for weak verbs, replace vague or awkward phrases with precise academic terms, and eliminate run-on sentences and fragments. I check for structural coherence, transitions, document flow, and other elements of superior writing.

Style and Format Editing
I will review your document for style and format, and I will correct consistency, in-text citations, parenthetical documentation, margins, headings, numbered or bulleted lists, figures and tables, appendices, and reference list formatting. I specialize in APA format and I can format to either fifth edition or sixth edition guidelines. Most universities have proprietary preferences and use a template or style guide. If you supply such guidelines to me, I will follow those preferences.

From time to time, clients ask only for APA formatting. To ensure accurate APA format, I must cross-check references to assure alignment between parenthetical citations and the references list. Other elements of APA format include accuracy and organization of headings. In essence, I must read the entire document, just as I would for my normal all-inclusive editing.

Document Version Integrity
This concept has a long name, and it is critically important. Once you have sent your document, please be aware that you cannot continue to do additional work on the version you keep. If you want to make any changes, either send them to me and tell me where they are to be placed, or wait until I have returned your document to you and then insert the changes. Revisions of even a word or two can change paragraph, section, and page breaks, as well as table and figure placement. If you send a revised version of your document, all the editing changes I have made to that point would have to be made over again, at additional cost.

Edits for Scholars will never sell or share any of your personal information or document content with any other entity, nor will it be used for any purpose other than the editing services you request.
