How much does it cost?

Professional charges
I charge $40 per hour for my editing services. My reputation depends on the success of every client, so I work diligently to produce the best possible document for you. Cost for work in the past has ranged from about $120 for a very good 30-page paper that needed little work, to around $600 for a proposal that had mismatches in citations and references, to over $1000 for a long dissertation that had many issues.

Do you provide estimates?
Because no two documents are alike, estimating how much a document will cost to edit can be complicated. For example, editing a paper with 20 tables and 100 references is quite different from editing a paper with 3 tables and 15 references. In addition, cost depends on how comfortable you are with writing. If your paper contains issues with grammar, mechanics, structure, and organization, the editing takes longer than if you have done extensive research writing throughout your academic career. I spend part of my editing time ensuring that all sources cited in the document appear in the references section, and all references are cited somewhere in the manuscript. The need to include all the elements of each reference entry (author, date, publisher, publisher’s location, volume, issue, inclusive page numbers, DOI number, and so on) is important.

Clients often ask for an estimate based on document length. Because my charges are hourly, I cannot provide an accurate estimate based on pages per document. For those who want an approximation, general estimates range from $4 per page for excellent documents (this is rare), to around $6-$7 per page for average documents, and up to $10 or more per page for documents with many issues.

I must review your paper in order to provide an accurate estimate. If you send your document and request an estimate, I will review it and provide a good-faith estimate. As I work through the paper, if it appears that costs will be higher than the original estimate, I will let you know as soon as possible. I stay in touch with clients daily as questions arise from the document. Please understand that the estimate I provide can apply only to the document you send for me to review. If you make revisions to your copy of the document and send that revised document for editing, the estimate cannot apply to the new document.

How can I save money?
Clients sometimes ask if I can do their work for less money. The quality of my work is important to me, and of course, important to you. The best ways to save money and receive an exceptional document in return are to check your document for missing elements before you send it and to assist with the process during the editing. Be sure that every literature source you cite in text appears in the reference list and every source in the reference list is cited within the text. If those match up, the editing is quicker and less costly. Assisting with the process includes answering questions about your document and providing information in a timely manner. It is extremely important that you do not make changes to your own copy of the document you sent me. Please refer to Editing Services for more about document version integrity.

Is your work guaranteed?
Yes. If there are errors in grammar, mechanics, format, or other issues within my control, I will correct them at no charge. If your academic advisor or committee has issues with content, research methods, sources, data analysis, and so on, of course, that is your responsibility.
