How long will it take?

What is the turnaround time?
Document length, of course, is a factor. A document of 80 pages takes less time to edit than does a document of 280 pages. My workload is also a factor. I do all editing myself; there is no outsourcing. I have found the only fair way to schedule editing is to accept work in the order in which I receive it. Clients’ schedules often change unexpectedly, and advisors or committees often require additional work on the paper before clients can send it to me. I’m sorry, but I cannot reserve a time slot for an expected date of completion.

I generally try to return documents within a week. Shorter papers take only a couple days. Longer papers can require two weeks or more, especially if reference elements are missing and I need additional information.

If you need longer than one week to provide additional information I request to complete the editing work, please let me know. In the interest of providing the best possible service to all clients, if two weeks pass without client response to my e-mails, the account is automatically invoiced for the work done to date, even if the editing is incomplete.

How soon will you return my edited document?
When I have finished editing a document, I send an electronic invoice via PayPal. When PayPal has verified your payment, which is usually within just a few seconds, I return your document immediately. You will receive two files: the completed clean file that is ready for your review and the redlined, edited version that shows the editing changes I made. If you send payment at a time when I am not online, I will return your document as soon as I log on again.

Can I save time by working on my copy of the document?
No, you cannot. This is very important. Once you have sent your document, please be aware that you cannot continue to do additional work on the version you keep. If you want to make any changes, either send them to me and tell me where you want me to place them, or wait until I have returned your document to you and then insert them. Revisions of even a word or two can change paragraph, section, and page breaks, as well as table and figure placement. If you send a revised version of your document, all the edits I have made to that point would have to be made over again, which is not cost-effective for you.
